Chef Jacques Torres Supports Cause Near to His Heart
Jun 28, 2023
The 36th Annual Chefs’ Tribute to Citymeals took place on June 12th, Jacques Torres said he was “so proud we raised funds to prepare and deliver 90,000 meals from this awesome event.” Cofounder and Chef Jonathan Waxman of Barbuto fame also lent his talent for this unique culinary event. Jacques posted that there was nothing better than having fun and helping a great cause alongside Cofounder and Chef Daniel Boulud of Le Gratin. Citymeals is the largest nonprofit Meals on Wheels program in the country and has delivered more than 67 million meals to the city’s homebound elderly since their kick off in 1981.
Jacques has deep roots in New York where he lives and works and is drawn to causes that support those in the community that are most vulnerable. This year's theme of “Family Affair” brought his love for people and food together. Dozens of chefs prepared their dishes alongside fine wine, crafted cocktails and a live band to ensure the evening was unforgettable. The highlight is knowing that 100% of the proceeds go to support this invaluable program.
